I love traveling and it’s more than just seeing new places; it’s the opportunity to experience and expand my horizons in many ways. Traveling allows me to break away from routine. It offers a sense of adventure and the excitement of discovery. Being able to take myself outside of my comfort zone and seeing how others live can be inspiring. It is also a way to gain perspective about the life that I live at ‘home’. Here I have 7 reasons why I enjoy travel. These are reasons why you should travel and pack your bags and embark on your next adventure:

1. Enhance Your Personal Growth

We all have a comfort zone, and getting out of it is beneficial to our education on earth. Seeing things in a different environment challenges you to adapt and become self-aware. Travel enables you to recognize what you are capable of and what else is out there. I always learn something about myself during and after my travels.

2. Meeting New People

I enjoy meeting people from all over. One of the best things about travel is the conversations with people from all walks of life. Whether you are talking with other travelers, locals, or the employees you encounter at your hotel, there is something about sharing those slices of humanity with others. These are some reasons why you should travel to experience such diverse interactions. Some of these interactions can lead to new friendships and new followers to your social network. They also let you see the similarities that are revealed in our differences.

3. Earth Education

When traveling you must be curious and intrepid to venture into your adventure. Learning a few words in a different language and navigating unfamiliar locations on public transportation are important. Going on a tour and learning about a monument that you saw on television or read in books is also significant. Travel teaches. When you travel, you’re applying math, reading comprehension, language, and even some geography as you trek to your next point of interest. These are just a few reasons why you should travel more often.

4. Health

Travel lets you unplug and decompress, which alleviates stress. I know when I travel, I am on a natural high of happiness. Whether walking around to sightsee, lounging on the beach, using the gym, or just planning for a trip, it feels good. It is good to get away sometimes.

5. Creating Memories

I enjoy the memories that my wife and I make when we travel. We have shared so many unique experiences. From taking an international trip to Hong Kong within 6 hours of notice to my surprise proposal to her on her birthday in Mexico, traveling has created lasting memories. We are reminded of those moments through our countless photos, videos, and conversations.

6. No Place Like Home

When you’re away from home, sometimes you appreciate it more. I appreciate the familiarity and comfort of my own bed, home cooked meals, and getting back to my friends and family. Travel makes you appreciate the little things and gives you perspective. Although there is a lot to see out there, as Dorothy once said, “there’s no place like home.”.

7. Inspiring Others

There is something special about sharing your stories and experiences with others. When they can live vicariously through you recounting your journey, it enables them to imagine. It inspires them to consider taking the same trip or seeing what else is out there. Have you been inspired to travel based on what you’ve read, seen, or heard from others? Remember, these are the reasons why you should travel and experience life to its fullest.
